Microenterprise Development

At Goodwill of Orange County, we’re always looking for new ways to change lives and provide greater independence for the individuals we serve. Today’s economy and job market is certainly challenging. For people faced with barriers to entry in the traditional workplace, it can be difficult to find
the right fit.

That’s why Goodwill of Orange County started the Microenterprise Development Program (MDP) to teach individuals with disabilities and other barriers how to begin their own microenterprise. A microenterprise is
defined as:

  • A small business of five or fewer individuals, including the owner
  • Requires less than $50,000 in start-up capital

The Microenterprise Development program provides individuals with the chance to explore and capitalize on their own skills, talents, and interests so they can be more independent both personally and economically.

Owner, Remember When…

The Goodwill Microenterprise Development Program helped me to build the confidence I needed to be a business owner. I am now more independent as a person.
