Future Business Owners Program
Future Business Owners is designed to help low-income individuals start a microenterprise. Offered in English and Spanish this track is ideal for those that have a business idea or those who are in the first three years of their business but have never written a formal business plan.
Future Business Owners offers program participants a comprehensive 15-week course that focuses on entrepreneurial training and microenterprise development. The program provides participants with the tools to enable them to create and operate viable and profitable businesses. Topics covered include s: Business Plan development, Marketing, Legal Issues, Management, E-commerce, Sales Techniques and basic Accounting/Finance.
In addition to the instruction and course work, classes are enhanced by guest speakers that are themselves entrepreneurs or specialize in the topic being discussed that week. This gives students the opportunity to ask questions and gain insight from a professional in the business community.
To qualify for graduation, each participant is expected to complete reading and worksheet assignments as well as writing their business plan. In order to facilitate this process, a computer lab is available during the week to complete assignments, work on the business plan, conduct market research, and design marketing materials.
In addition, our staff is available, by appointment, to offer one-on-one consultations to answer any questions and help participants to complete the coursework. New classes form every 8-10 weeks.
