Mr. Heffernan is the treasurer of Goodwill's Board of Directors and serves on the Executive Committee. He chairs the Budget, Finance & Investment Committee and serves on the Long Range Planning Advisory Team.
Mr. Heffernan is a managing partner in the law firm of Heffernan & Boortz, where he concentrates on commercial, industrial and retail real property transactions. He also owns and manages a range of properties and assets. His focus is finance, organizational development and strategic planning. He has been active in a variety of community service organizations including Second Harvest Food Bank (as past Chairman), Hoag Presbyterian Hospital (past member of Board of Directors), Andersen Public School, Mater Dei Catholic High School, Santa Margarita High School, Sacred Heart Retreat Center in Santa Ana and Verbum Dei High School in Los Angeles. He was twice elected to the Newport Beach City Council and served as Mayor in 2005.
